Odes to Struggling Women - International Women's Day
March 8 is International Women's Day. That's when we reflect on militant women.
What about the women's struggles going on in the world right now? And closer to home?
Every year on March 8, the militancy and solidarity of women is celebrated during International Women's Day. In Debatpodium Arminius this evening odes to the militant women of our time. What can we learn from them?
Journalist and writer Brenda Stoter Boscolo pays tribute to Yezidi women, from victimization to activism. Artist Parisa Akbarzadehpoladi pays tribute to women in Iran. The courage shown by women in that country inspired her to create art. Artist and founder of creative impact platform Ellae, Rajae El Mouhandiz pays tribute to working-class women from different cultures in the Dutch art world. The gender gap is real, but she sees how especially women from a working-class background also have to fight harder in the Netherlands for equal appreciation and opportunities. Finally, the girls from Chicks and the City share lessons from their manifesto on transgressive behavior. Presentation: Sanne Poot.

Grow with Google Marketing Bootcamp
Ellae Foundation has been selected to participate in the very first Growth with Google Marketing Bootcamp in the Netherlands. Less than 1% of venture capital is invested in companies run (exclusively) by women. Yet these companies have the potential to make an incredible difference. A whopping 51% of social enterprises are led by a woman.
Google wants to address this gender gap. Therefore, they will soon start an intensive 3-month Growth with Google Marketing Bootcamp. The Bootcamp was developed by Google in cooperation with interest group MKB-Nederland and entrepreneurial network Impact Hub. With the bootcamp, they want to offer women entrepreneurs impact opportunities to grow their businesses sustainably.

Brainstorming session 750 years of Amsterdam in diaries
In 2025, the city of Amsterdam will celebrate its 750th anniversary. In view of this anniversary celebration, researchers have taken the initiative to make a study of the diaries of "ordinary people" past and present who have written about themselves and their lives in Amsterdam. At the invitation of VU Amsterdam, Rajae will chair a brainstorming session to bring together researchers and experts from the cultural, heritage and education sectors.
